Abstract:Magistrsko delo ponuja rešitve za potrebno prenovo tehničnih fakultet v Mariboru, ki vključujejo prenovo fasad, gradnjo fleksibilnih prostorov in ureditev dvorišč. Predvidena prenova fakultet prispeva k dvigu kakovosti pedagoškega procesa, nudi večje ugodje obiskovalcem in ureja vizualno podobo Smetanove ulice.

Title:RENOVATION OF TECHNICAL FACULTIES IN MARIBOR
Abstract:The master’s thesis offers solutions to the problems of renovation of four technical faculties in Maribor by suggesting renovation of the facades, construction of new flexible spaces and courtyard arrangements. Having analyzed the existing buildings and their surroundings on site, we highlight the absence of some functions vital for efficient pedagogical process and students’ work. The problem is solved by siting new-designed buildings among and aside the existing ones, thus filling the unutilized open spaces. The parking lot among the faculties is converted into a multi-storey underground garage with flexible rooms at the top providing day work space for students. They are connected to Koroška cesta by a system of terraces which regulate the height differences. The existing workshops are extended in the direction of Smetanova street and the courtyard among the residential buildings. The library in the basement of the existing building is extended to the verge of the street and a small mediatheque is set up. In order to meet the demand for larger classrooms or amphitheatres, a few of the existing buildings are demolished and a new complex of lecture halls is constructed. The proposed renovation of the faculties increases the quality of the teaching process, provides a greater comfort for the visitors and regulates the visual image of Smetanova street.
