Title:ŠTUDIJA MOŽNOSTI ODSTRANJEVANJA KOVIN IZ MULJA Z NANODELCI

Abstract:Namen diplomskega dela je bilo odstraniti težke kovine iz mulja z adsorpcijo le-teh na maghemitne nanostrukture, primerjati učinkovitost odstranjevanja med dvodimenzionalnim maghemitom in enodimenzionalnim maghemitom ter maghemitnimi PVA-alginatnimi kroglicami. Rezultati infrardeče spektroskopije s Fourierjevo transformacijo so pokazali, da smo uspešno sintetizirali dvodimenzionalne maghemitne nanostrukture s topotaktično transformacijo med dehidroksilacijo prekurzorja lepidokrokita γ-FeO(OH). Opravili smo tudi rentgensko praškovno difrakcijo in z dobljenim difraktogramom potrdili, da se struktura enodimenzionalnega maghemita ni spremenila. Zaradi slabe magnetne separacije maghemitnih nanostrutkur iz blata regeneracija in ponovna uporaba ni bila mogoča. Rezultati odstranjevanja kovin po opravljenih adsorpcijskih eksperimentih z dvo- in enodimenzionalnim maghemitom, pridobljeni z rentgensko fluorescenčno spektrofotometrijo, niso kazali zadovoljivega zmanjšanja koncentracije težkih kovin v mulju. Zaključimo lahko, da maghemitni nanodelci za odstranjevanje kovin iz mulja niso primerni. Najboljše rezultate smo dosegli pri obdelavi mulja z 8,5 % vsebnostjo suhe snovi z maghemitnimi PVA-alginatnimi kroglicami, kjer je učinkovitost znašala 26,4 % za železo, 46,8 % za cink in 51,1 % za baker.

Title:STUDY OF THE POSSIBILITY OF METAL REMOVAL FROM SLUDGE BY NANOPARTICLES
Abstract:The purpose of this graduation thesis was to remove heavy metals from sludge, which we initially absorbed on maghemite nanostructures, and to compare removal efficiency of two dimensional versus one-dimensional maghemite and maghemite PVA-alginate beads. The results of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy corroborate successful synthetization of two-dimensional maghemite nanostructure, synthetized with topotactic transformation during the dehydroxylation of precursor lepidococrite γ-FeO(OH). X-ray powder diffraction method was also carried out. The resulting diffractogram shows that the structure of the one dimensional maghemite has not changed. Due to unsatisfactory magnetic separation of the maghemite nanostructures from sludge, their regeneration and reusability was impracticable. We ascertained that the results of heavy metals recycling, obtained after adsorption experiments with two- and one-dimensional maghemite, which were performed with X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, do not demonstrate sufficient reduction of heavy metals concentration in sludge. By the results of chemical analyses carried out, we concluded that maghemite nanoparticles, used to recycle heavy metals form sludge, are not appropriate for that kind of analysis. The best resultst obtained were that of heavy metal removal using maghemite PVA-alginate beads with an efficiency of 26,4 % for iron, 46,8 % for zinc and 51,1 % for copper.
