Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo raziskovali vpliv procesnih parametrov na lastnosti alginatnih aerogelov. Aerogele smo pripravljali s pomočjo sol-gel postopka. Dobljeni gel zato imenujemo alkogel. Alkohol iz alkogela odstranimo s superkritičnim sušenjem s CO2. Po sušenju smo aerogelu izmerili specifično površino, velikost por in toplotno prevodnost. S spreminjanjem procesnih parametrov so bile karakteristike aerogelov pričakovano drugačne. Geliranje v metanolu in etanolu je bilo uspešno, medtem ko v prisotnosti propanola in n-butanola stabilni gel ni nastal. Najboljše lastnosti aerogelov, vključno z najvišjo specifično površino smo dobili pri geliranju v metanolu z uporabo visoko viskoznega alginata.

Title:INFLUENCE OF PROCESS PARAMETERS ON THE FINAL ALGINATE AEROGELS PROPERTIES
Abstract:In the thesis, we investigated the influence of process paramters based on properties of alginated aerogels. Aerogels were prepared by using the sol-gel process. This process can change the type of alginate, cross-linking agent and the time of crosslinking. These have then an impact on the specific surface area, pore size and other properties. In our case, we used three types of alginate, four types of alcohol (methanol, ethanol, propanol, n-butanol), and two different time curing (1h, and 24h). For our study, we used an alginate, which is a natural polysaccharide and is located in brown algae. Sol-gel process is a process wherein we use solution of polysaccharide which is crosslinked, either chemically or physically, that they give us wet gel. In our example, alginate was form with alcohol. The resulting gel is called alcogel. The alcohol from alcoholic-gel is removed by supercritical drying with CO2. After the drying we mesured the airgel's specific surface area, pore size and thermal conductivity. By varying process parameters, we expected to get diffrent characteristics of aerogels. Gelation in methanol and ethanol has been successful, while in the presence of propanol and n-butanol, the gel wasn't form. The best properties of aerogels including the highest specific surface area was obtained from gealtion in methanol with the use of highly viscous alginate.
