Abstract:V magistrskem delu smo preučevali značilnosti gibalno oviranega učenca na deseturnem plavalnem tečaju v tretjem razredu devetletne osnovne šole in dobili celostni vpogled v njegov razvoj.

Title:IMPLEMENTATION OF SWIMMING LESSONS FOR PHYSICALLY DISABLED CHILD IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND MONITORING HIS DEVELOPMENT
Abstract:The master’s thesis discusses the characteristics of a physically disabled student who was involved in a ten hour swimming course in the third grade of the elementary school, and aims to gain the comprehensive insight into the student’s development. The research included one third grade student having a special needs order in which he was categorized as a physically disabled student with limitation on a certain field of education. In the beginning, three assessors with the help of check-lists monitored the student's development in the fields of sensory perception, speech, language, emotion, socialization and movement. The evaluation data show that this student has highly developed communicative and linguistic abilities. Major hearing and phonetic problems with word perception were not noticed. However, problems still occur with his motoric and sensomotoric functions. Next, the student was monitored during his swimming lessons where he was included into Halliwick's swimming programme. Throughout the programme, which consists of ten check-points, student improve his swimming skills, such as adjustment to water, breathing control, different rotation types, balance and development of swimming style. The progress was monitored using a well-established SWIM test at the beginning and at the end of the swimming course. The results measured at the beginning and at the end of the course have shown the student's huge improvement. The student scored 48 points in the first and 59 points in the final assessment. The greatest progress was seen in the development of his swimming style, as he was capable of independent 25 m backstroke swimming at the end of the swimming course.
