Abstract:V 21. stoletju ženske niso več samo matere in gospodinje, ampak predstavljajo tudi večinski del delovne sile. Posledično to pomeni tudi, da so še enkrat bolj obremenjene, kot so bile včasih. Nekaterim uspe uskladiti kariero in družino, drugim usklajevanje predstavlja problem in jih sili v nenehno izbiranje in odrekanje. Zato se nekatere ženske včasih tudi odrečejo sanjam o lastni družini zaradi kariere. Da bi se ženske lažje odločale za rojstvo otrok, bi morali tako država kot delodajalci bolje poskrbeti za zaposlene ženske in ženske na sploh. Ženske še vedno, kljub vsej propagandi enakosti in nediskriminaciji med spoloma, veljajo za nepredvidljivo delovno silo, saj se bodo slej kot prej odločile za materinstvo, kar pa delodajalcem ne predstavlja prednosti, kvečjemu slabost, saj posledično to pomeni, da bodo ženske, ki so matere, veliko odsotne z dela, bodisi zaradi bolezni otroka ali drugih nepredvidljivih dogodkov, povezanih z materinstvom. Kljub dejstvu, da so ženske danes v veliki meri bolj izobražene kot moški, njihovo karierno pot otežuje veliko dejavnikov, med drugim tudi materinstvo ter spolna diskriminacija, in še vedno zasedajo nižja in slabše plačana delovna mesta.

Title:WOMEN CAUGHT BETWEEN FAMILY AND CAREER
Abstract:Women in the 21st century are not only mothers and housewives, they also represent the majority of labor force. This consequently means they are twice as much occupied as they used to be in the past. Some of them harmonize career and family, for other ones coordination is a problem as it forces them into constantly selecting and renouncing. Thus some women give up the dream of family due to career. Government and employers should take better care for employed women and women in general so they could easier decide on the birth of child. Women are still, despite all the propaganda of equality and non-discrimination between sexes, subject of unpredictable labor force, as they will sooner or later decide for motherhood, which does not represent benefit to the employer, but a greater disadvantage. This consequently means that women who are mothers will be absent from work due to child illness or other unforeseen events related to motherhood. Despite the fact that women today are more educated than men, their career is made difficult by many factors including maternity and gender discrimination and they still occupy lower and lower-paid jobs.
