Abstract:Obstajajo različni negativni stereotipi o starejših ljudeh, da si niso zmožni zapomniti česa novega, so pozabljivi, počasni, nebogljeni in nezanesljivi.

Abstract:There are various negative stereotypes about older people, that they are not able to remember something new, they are forgetful, slow, helpless an insecure. Usually they also have certain health problems that may significantly affect on accuracy and precision of testimony. Due to the possible worsening of vision elderly may wrongly perceived color and shape of an object or environment, it may also happen that some small items they do not even notice. The consequence of poor vision can also be a misidentification of a suspect in a visual lineup or photos. It is also known that older people are more reliably at identifying older suspects. Older people often become hearing-impaired or they even lose hearing with years which can influence on understanding and perception of a conversation or event, surrounding an elderly person. The hearing impaired and failing eyesight can also lead to false interpretation of an event. Numerous studies of researchers have shown that older people more quickly forget information, they are less accurate, confident and competent, in three studies were older people assessed as more fair that younger adults. However, this is not for all elderly people, because many older person can remember event in the same detail as younger adults. The purpose of the master’s thesis is to determine if elderly people are capable of accurate testimony, and if they remember a certain event in the same detail as younger adults. I finished research, after which I came to the conclusion that elderly people have more memorable basis of events than as its edge details. Younger adults remembered edge details of event more thoroughly. The time sequence of event was stated equally correct in both groups.
