Abstract:Krionika je nizkotemperaturni način ohranitve ljudi, ki jih tradicionalna medicina več ne more vzdrževati pri življenju. Predvideva se, da bi jih bilo mogoče oživeti v prihodnosti. Postopek velja za zelo spornega zaradi polemik na mnogih življenjskih področjih, kot so morala, etika, vera in seveda pravo. Krionika je predmet številnih filmov in romanov, vendar so pogledi na uspešnost razvoja tehnologije v prihodnosti večinoma pozitivni. Velikokrat se ne zavedamo posledic, ki jih lahko takšen futuristični postopek prinese. Kot večina stvari v življenju tudi krionika ni zastonj. Navdušenci nad večnim življenjem bodo za financiranje svoje »krioprezervacije« morali plačati visok znesek. Tehnologija, ki je trenutno na voljo, je še v povojih, zato na tem področju obstaja veliko skepticizma. Za zakonodajalca krionika ni zanimiva in je tudi večinoma ne priznava. Krionisti se zato v anglo-ameriškem pravnem sistemu opirajo na ustvarjanje sodnih precedensov in na kreativno razlago obstoječih pravnih institutov. Najpomembnejši pravni akt na tem področje je UAGA (Uniform Anatomical Gift Act), katerega namen je zbližati pravo različnih zveznih držav na področju darovanja telesa ali organov po smrti. Tako kot vsaka nova tehnologija, ki ima potencial vplivati na življenje mnogih, je tudi krionika že videla svoj del sodnih procesov in medijsko odmevnih primerov. Eden izmed najbolj znanih primerov je sporna krionična ohranitev igralca baseballa, Teda Williamsa, člana bostonskih Red Foxov, o katerem je celo bila napisana knjiga. Krioniko kot znanost na svoji poti čaka še veliko težav, ki sem jih v svojem diplomskem delu skušal objektivno prikazati in poiskati potencialne rešitve zanje.

Title:CRYONICS
Abstract:Cryonics is low-temperature preservation of humans who cannot be sustained by traditional medicine, with the hope that healing and rehabilitation will be possible in the future. Procedure is very controversial, because it stands against many things we people believe today and sometimes goes against certain established opinions in morality, ethics, religion and of course the law. Cryonics is the subject of many movies and novels. It is mostly viewed in a very positive light and it is often dismissive of the consequences that such futuristic procedure can bring. Like most things in life cryonics is not without a price. Enthusiasts of eternal life will found it to be very pricey. Technology that is currently involved is still in its infancy so there is a lot of scepticism involved in the area. Cryonics is not interesting for legislature because it is generally not recognised as a real science. Cryonics in Anglo-American legal system are therefore solving their problems with judicial precedents and creative interpretation of existing law. The most important legal instrument in this area is UAGA (Uniform Anatomical Gift Act) which aims to harmonize laws of different states in the field of post-mortem cadaver and organ donations. Like any new technology that has the potential to affect the lives of many, it has already attracted its share of trials and high-profile media cases. One of the most famous cases was cryonics preservation of a baseball player, Ted Williams, ex member of the Boston Red Fox team, after he was cryonicly preserved, allegedly against his will. This case was even depicted in a book. Cryonics still has many problems on its path. Through my work I tried to establish the problems as objectively as I could and also find potential solutions.
