Abstract:Namen diplomskega dela je preučevanje temperature tališča polietilen glikola različnih molskih mas pri raznih nadtlakih argona in načrtovanje talilne krivulje binarnega sistema ter njena primerjava s podobnimi binarnimi sistemi, najdenimi v različni literaturi. Izmerjene so bile temperature tališča (TTpov) polietilen glikola molskih mas 1 500 g/mol, 4 000 g/mol, 10 000 g/mol in 35 000 g/mol pri različnih nadtlakih argona (Pnad) v visokotlačni optični celici vse do 30 MPa.

Title:MELTING POINTS OF POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL UNDER HIGH PRESSURE OF GAS
Abstract:The goal of the presented diploma thesis was to research the melting temperature of polyethylene glycol with different molar masses under various pressures of argon gas and the formulation and comparison of the melting curve for the given binary system with other binary systems found in different literature. Measured were the melting temperatures (TTpov) of polyethylene glycol with molar masses 1 500 g/mol, 4 000 g/mol, 10 000 g/mol and 35 000 g/mol in different overpressures of argon (Pnad) in a high-pressure optical cell up to 30 MPa. These temperatures were then calculated to “reduced melting temperatures” (TTred), so that our binary system could be compared to the binary system polyethylene glycol/carbon dioxide. The latent heat of fusion (ΔtalH) was measured using two methods. The first contained the use of the Clapeyron equation and the interpolation of the measured melting temperatures in dependence of argon overpressure. The second method consisted of the direct measurement of the latent heat of fusion in the Differential Scanning Calorimeter, which values were later used for the calculation of solubility. Considering the colligative properties and the observed reduction of melting temperature we were able to determine the solubility of supercritical argon in the polymer. For this purpose a new equation of solubility (S) was derived from the already known correlations of cryoscopy.
