Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo predstavili internet kot komunikacijski sistem ter se podrobneje osredotočili na komunikacijo v spletnih družbenih omrežjih. Internet je javno dostopen že 20 let in se še vedno spreminja, saj mediji postajajo vse bolj družbeni. Tudi med tistimi, ki dobro vedo, kako ga uporabljati, se vzorec uporabe še vedno spreminja. S pomočjo interneta se tako oblikujejo dodatni socialno-dialoški prostori, v katerih se posamezniki lahko srečujejo in med seboj združujejo, pogovarjajo in razpravljajo. Spletna družbena omrežja ponujajo nove možnosti družbenega vpliva. V diplomski nalogi smo izpostavili značilnosti spletnih družbenih omrežij – njihov vpliv in vlogo v družbi ter pri organizaciji dogodkov, podrobneje smo se dotaknili omrežja Tviter. Osredotočili smo se na komunikacijo Evropske prestolnice kulture Maribor 2012 na spletnem družbenem omrežju Tviter. Analizirali smo tako komunikacijo, ki so jo preko Tviterja posredovali v letu 2012, ko so se v okviru Evropske prestolnice kulture Maribor 2012 odvijala različna dogajanja, kot tudi komunikacijo pred in po letu 2012.

Title:INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL NETWORKS ON THE INTENSITY OF LARGE EVENT COMMUNICATION: EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE MARIBOR 2012 CASE
Abstract:The aim of this thesis was to present the Internet as a communication system, as well as to have a closer look at the means of communication used on social networking sites. The Internet has been publicly accessible for over 20 years but is nevertheless still in the process of changing, with the media becoming ever more social. The ways of using social networking sites have even been changing among their most knowledgeable users. With the help of the Internet, additional structures for social dialogue are being formed, with individuals having the chance to meet, group, chat, and hold discussions. Social networking sites also offer new possibilities for gaining social influence. The thesis therefore examines the characteristics of social networking sites; i.e., their influence and role in society, as well as in organising events. Twitter, in particular, was examined more closely. The main focus was put on using Twitter as the means of communication for promoting the European Capital of Culture Maribor 2012. In this respect, the use of Twitter as a means of promoting various events in 2012 was analysed, as well as its use as a means of communication before and after 2012.
