Abstract:Diplomsko delo z naslovom Skozi zgodovino avtoportreta do Warhola in lastne podobe je sestavljeno iz dveh delov, teoretičnega in praktičnega. Zato sem popart podrobneje predstavila, opisala njegov razvoj in predstavila prevladujoče umetnike.

Title:THROUGH THE HISTORY OF THE SELF PORTRAIT TO WARHOL AND THE IMAGE OF ONESELF
Abstract:The diploma paper with the title ''Through the history of the self portrait to Warhol and the image of oneself'' consists of a theoretical and a practical part. In the first part, that reviews the historical aspect of the self portrait, I present the development of this iconographic art movement throughout the historic eras from its beginnings in the antiquity and all to the era of modern art, specifically the Pop art movement, with the help of some of the most renowned artists and their artwork. This way I summarize the main developmental characteristics of the self portrait. The historical review is extended with the description of the metaphorical self portrait in the era of abstract expressionism after the Second World War and the discussion is tied to the art movement of Pop art, which is typical for the world of western capitalism. Pop art is namely the orientation point of my own artwork, presented in the practical part of this diploma paper. The main focus is therefore on Pop art as well as on the central artist of this movement, Andy Warhol, whose style and technique I wish to recreate. That is why I present Pop art more thoroughly, describe its development and present its most prominent artists. Further on I describe the life, work and self portraits of Andy Warhol, for he is the most prominent and renowned artist of this movement. The theoretical part concluded with a chapter of photographs linked to classical art techniques, from which my practical part results from. This part consists of the interpretation of the art techniques, followed by the description of their combinations which I have used for the creation of the self portrait, with the description of my own examples. In the end my own artwork is presented and rated.
