Title:Reasons for alcoholic relapse
Abstract:Relapse is falling back into drinking with recovered alcoholics after a certain time of abstinence, which can for the alcoholic, his family and his loved ones be a huge burden. The risk of relapse exists with every recovered alcoholic, because there are many reasons why an individual cannot abstain. In this graduation thesis we have presented alcoholism, treatments of alcoholism and the role of nurses in this treatment. We have emphasized the impact of family in the treatment and during the time of abstinence. In more detail, we have described the types, factors and causes of relapse. When writing the thesis, we have used descriptive method of work with expert dissertations. In the empiric part we have presented the research results, which we carried out in October 2013 in three alcohol treatment centers. As the survey instrument we have used an anonymous questionnaire composed of 20 open, semi-open and closed type questions. The results from anonymous surveys have been presented graphically using Microsoft Excel. With this research we wanted to find out the most common reasons for resorting to alcohol and who was, for the people in survey, the biggest support during their re-treatment. The results have shown that the vast majority of recovered alcoholics relapse because of the occurrence and the accumulation of negative feelings that they faced during abstinence. The greatest support during the time of re-treatment was received from their parents and their loved ones.
