V današnjem času vedno več slišimo o novodobnih načinih bojevanja, katerih podlaga ni več strelno orožje, ampak bolj prefinjeni načini bojevanja, in to so ravno jedrski, radiološki, kemični ali biološki dogodki.

Abstract:Even though Slovenia seems at first glance a small country with no special attention this is not reason enough to say that it is safe from any danger. Nowadays we can hear more about modern ways of combat, where there are no firearm-like weapons, but a rather more sophisticated ways of fighting, such as nuclear, radiological, chemical and biological. The theses introduces the 18thChemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defence Battalion, which is the only unit in Slovenia that is constantly being educated and trained in these fields and also cooperates in the NATO Response Force, which puts them into the elite group. The Battalion performs various tasks from surveillance, protection and decontamination. It is also necessary to understand what falls under nuclear, radiological, chemical and biological threats or danger and what the defence procedure looks like. The defence itself is ineffective if the equipment is poor. The 18th Battalion thus possesses an amount of equipment that enables an effective defence against potential nuclear, radiological, chemical and biological incidents. The theses tries to touch on those weapons of mass destruction, which are nowadays, more than ever, becoming more important or the awareness of them is insufficient, mainly with a thought / conviction “it cannot happen to us...”
