Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava svetnika Dizmo in njegove upodobitve v štajerski likovni umetnosti. Antona Padovanskega in ptujska proštijska cerkev sv. Jurija.

Title:SAINT DISMAS IN THE STYRIAN FINE ART
Abstract:This diploma thesis discusses St. Dismas and his depictions in Styrian Fine Arts. It commences with presentation of the legend of the Saint (in particular literary sources such as The Holy Bible, apocryphal gospels, and The Golden Legend), and is followed by iconography of St. Dismas that is illustrated with examples in the European Arts from the Middle Ages to 20th century. In addition to some paintings, the survey includes sculpturing examples. In continuation the thesis highlights depictions of St. Dismas, which are divided in Styrian and »non-Styrian« in accordance with geographical criterion. The »non-Styrian« section is presented by Quaglio's painting in the cathedral St. Nicholas of Ljubljana, whereas Styrian section includes the paintings for the chapel of Štatenberg manor, chapel in Gradec (Mount Calvary), Parish Church of Our Lady of Mercy, Franciscan Church of St. Anthony of Padua in Brežice, and St. George Parish Church in Ptuj. Paintings of these monuments are iconographically described, analyzed, and presented from the fraternities' and patronages' point of view. The thesis is in particular focused on Ignac Marija Count Attems, who worshiped Mary and St. Dismas. Furthermore, he named his fist born son after him.
Keywords:St. Dismas, legend of the Saint, worship, iconography of St. Dismas, patronage, aristocratic family Attems, Ignac Marija Count Attems, Styrian depictions, Štatenberg, Gradec, Zagorje pri Pilštanju, Brežice, fraternities, Ptuj
