Title:Treatment and rehabilitation for alcohol dependence
Abstract:This diploma thesis presents problems of alcohol dependence where we indicate several types of medical conditions that are caused by a chronic excessive alcohol consumption. Alcohol addiction is a chronic disease that affects an individual's physical, mental and social fields, and presents a major problem for the individual, as well as his family and the environment. Addiction to alcohol has a relatively long formation time, which begins with an early alcohol period, followed by a critical period which can last from 15 to 20 years, and then a chronic period when the sick person can be just at the point when he can die. Treatment of patients who are dependent on alcohol is very advanced and addicts today have opportunities to recover. The diploma thesis presents alcohol dependence syndrome with help of domestic and foreign literature. The theoretical analysis defines the concept of alcohol dependence syndrome and the importance of its treatment. The diploma thesis also presents epidemiological studies of drinking behavior in Slovenia. The analysis of the literature shows that alcohol dependence in the world and in our country is a very common problem. Although the treatment progressed, we need to focus on factors that increase the risk of developing alcohol dependence syndrome and thereby reduce the incidence of alcohol addiction. When alcohol dependence appears, it is crucial to treat it as early as possible.
Keywords:alcohol, alcohol dependence syndrome, a family, consequences, treatment, rehabilitation, a nurse.
