Raziskovalna metodologija: Za izdelavo diplomskega dela smo uporabili opisno metodo dela, podatke smo pridobili iz strokovne literature, člankov in elektronskih virov. Študijo primera odrasle osebe s cerebralno paralizo smo izvedli v Centru za usposabljanje, delo in varstvo Dobrna v mesecu septembru 2011. Del podatkov smo pridobili s pomočjo intervjuja. Uporabili smo vprašalnik delno strukturirane narave. Druge podatke o obravnavani osebi smo pridobili še z merjenjem vitalnih funkcij, iz medicinske in negovalne dokumentacije in pogovora z zdravstvenim in multidisciplinarnim timom.

Title:Nursing care of adult people with cerebral palsy
Abstract:Basis: Cerebral palsy is the common name for a non-progressive brain dysfunction caused by hazards to the brain of an unborn child, newborn or child in his early childhood. This condition causes the disorder of motor functions which varies depending on growth. It triggers the development of secondary deformations and differs according to age group. Purpose: The purpose of this case study based thesis is to determine the actual and potential health care problems for adults with Cerebral Palsy. I also presented the role of the nurse in the process of health care for adults with cerebral palsy. Research Methodology: In order to compete this thesis we used the descriptive method, data was obtained by use of technical literature, articles and electronic sources. The case study involving an adult with cerebral palsy was completed in the training, occupation and care center Dobrna on September 2011. Part of the data was obtained via interview. We used a semi-structured questionnaire. Other data was obtained from monitoring vital functions, medical and health care documentation and consultations with a health care and multidisciplinary team. During treatment we used the procedural work method. Results: Case study data shows that several potential and actual health care problems exist with adult cerebral palsy patients. The most common problems are found with every day routines such as: eating and drinking, withdrawal, secreting, dressing and tidying, cleanliness and body care, motion, avoiding dangers in environments, communication, relations with people, expressing emotions, needs and feelings. Conclusion: A health care nurse has to show individualism during her work, she also needs to obtain additional knowledge regarding work with such patients. In addition, she also has to get to know the utilities this person during everyday tasks.
