Title:DINAMIČNA PODATKOVNA STRUKTURA ZA TOČKOVNO UPODABLJANJE TOČK IZVEN POMNILNIKA

Abstract:V doktorski disertaciji obravnavamo problematiko upodabljanja velikih oblakov točk izven pomnilnika z metodo upodabljanja s točkami. Osnovni cilj je razviti podatkovno strukturo in algoritme, s katerimi bomo lahko hitro in kakovostno upodobili in urejali neobdelane oblake točk izven pomnilnika. V nalogi najprej izpostavimo problematiko in opravimo pregled področja upodabljanja s točkami, nato pa predstavimo lastno podatkovno strukturo, ki smo jo zasnovali na zaporednih drevesih točk. Podatkovna struktura je osmiško drevo z vgnezdenimi modificiranimi zaporednimi drevesi točk in omogoča učinkovito izrisovanje neobdelanih oblakov točk izven pomnilnika, podpira izris pri različnih stopnjah podrobnosti in določanje vidnosti. Za izris predstavimo metodo, ki točke upodobi s skaliranimi, rotiranimi in osvetljenimi mehkimi krpami, ki bolje zapolnijo luknje in dajejo boljšo prostorsko informacijo od navadnih točk. Napreden izris je pomemben za urejanje točk, ki ga predstavimo v nadaljevanju. Razvili smo operacije izbire, vstavljanja in brisanja, ki delujejo nad oblaki točk izven pomnilnika. Na koncu predstavljene rešitve analiziramo in potrdimo postavljeni hipotezi.

Title:Dynamic data structure for out-of-core point based rendering
Abstract:The doctoral dissertation addresses the problem of out-of-core point cloud visualization with a point-based rendering method. Our main goal is the development of data structures and algorithms for fast and quality out-of-core visualization of unprocessed point clouds. A survey of point-based rendering methods is presented, followed by an introduction of a new data structure based on the sequential point trees. It is realized as an octree with nested modified sequential point trees and allows efficient out-of-core rendering of unprocessed point clouds. It also supports visibility culling and rendering in different levels of detail. A rendering method which renders points as scaled, rotated and shaded Gaussian splats is presented. It provides better depth feedback and fills the gaps between points, both of which are very important especially for editing operations. Editing operations that enable selection, insertion and deletion of points in out-of-core point clouds are developed. Finally, the presented data structures and algorithms are analyzed and hypotheses are confirmed.
