Title:THE ANALYSIS OF SUSPENDED SOLIDS IN HOUSEHOLDS' DRINKING WATER
Abstract:The analyses of small black particles which precipitated from households’ drinking water were performed in diploma work. Due to the literature review, iron and manganesse compounds could precipitate from water or biofilm could be formed. Physico-chemical analyses of water as well as microscopic examination and IR spectras of precipitation were performed. Physico-chemical analyses showed that the water is quite hard, but it did not contain any iron or manganese compounds. IR spectra showed the presence of proteins in precipitation. Proteins are the major compound of bacterias’ cellular membrane. We can conclude that biofilm attached to the CaCO3 precipitated from water.
Keywords:Drinking water, water pollution, metals in water, water scaling, IR spectrometry, bacteria, biofilm
