Title:Prostorske značilnosti mamalnega kompleksa in njihova vloga v postnatalnem življenju pujskov

Abstract:Cilj raziskave je bil ugotoviti povezavo med prostorskimi značilnostmi mamalnega kompleksa in parametri, kot so rojstna masa, telesna masa, dnevni prirast in stabilnost sesanja, ter proučiti uporabo posamezne mlečne žleze in njeno stanje (aktivnost) ob koncu laktacije. V raziskavo so bile vključene tri plemenske svinje ŠL ‒ švedski landrace vključno z njihovimi gnezdi (27 pujskov). Tekom laktacije smo izvajali meritve prostorskih značilnosti mamalnega kompleksa in telesne mase ter izvajali opazovanja sesnega obnašanja pujskov. V raziskavi smo ugotovili, da je aktivnost posamezne mlečne žleze odvisna od obsega njene uporabe (sesanja), število aktivnih mlečnih žlez ob koncu laktacije pa je skladno z velikostjo gnezda. Popolna aktivnost in razvitost mlečnih žlez se je ohranila, ko je bila mlečna žleza uporabljena v vsaj 58 % sesanj, v nasprotnem primeru je mlečna žleza postopoma upadala in se na koncu deloma ali popolnoma presušila. Svinja 2 z več zaporednimi prasitvami (5) je imela bistveno obsežnejše mlečne žleze (178,3 cm2) kot svinja 1 (119,9 cm2) in svinja 3 (106,7 cm2), ki sta prasili šele drugič. Rezultati so pokazali, da je ploščina sesnega prostora posamezne mlečne žleze enakomerno padala od sprednjega proti zadnjemu delu mamalnega kompleksa. Z analizo korelacije smo ugotovili, da so povprečni dnevni prirast tekom laktacije, rojstna masa in kasnejša telesna masa statistično značilno pozitivno povezani s ploščino področja mlečne žleze (p < 0,05). Obsežnejše mlečne žleze so tako zasedali pujski z višjo telesno maso, ki so tudi bolje priraščali. Stabilnosti sesanja z velikostjo področja mlečne žleze ni bila statistično značilno povezana (p ≥ 0,05).

Title:Spatial characteristics of mammary complex and their role in the postnatal life of piglets
Abstract:The aim of the study was to determine the association between the spatial characteristics of the mammary complex and other parameters, such as birth weight, body weight, daily gain and suckling stability, and consider the use of individual mammary gland and their status (activity) at the end of lactation. The study included three sows of Swedish Landrace including their litters (27 piglets). During lactation, measurements of the spatial characteristics of mammary complex and body weight and the observation of suckling behaviour of piglets were carried out. In this study, we found that the activity of individual mammary gland depends on the extent of its suckling, the number of active mammary gland at the end of the lactation it is consistent with the number of suckling piglets. Perfect activity and development of mammary glands was maintained, when the milk gland was used in at least 58 % of suckling, otherwise the milk gland gradually decline and eventually partially or completely dried up. The sow with more sequential trajectory (5) had a significantly larger mammary gland (178.3 cm2) than sows that farrowed only two times (sow 1: 119.9 cm2 and sow 3: 106.7 cm2). Results showed that the surface area of each suckling space of mammary gland fell steadily from the anterior to the posterior part of the mammary complex. With the correlation analysis, we found that the average daily gain during lactation, birth weight and subsequent body weight significantly positively associated by the area of the field of mammary glands (p < 0.05). Larger mammary glands are occupied by heavier piglets which had also higher daily gains. Stability of sucking was not significantly related with the size of the mammary gland area (p ≥ 0.05).
