Abstract:Elektroerozijska obdelava spada med nekonvencionalne obdelave in je postopek, pri katerem pride do odnašanja materiala zaradi kombiniranega delovanja električne in toplotne energije. Najpogosteje se v industriji uporabljata potopna in žična elektroerozijska obdelava, predvsem zaradi natančnosti, ki jo lahko dosežemo z njima. Še do nedavnega je veljal pogoj, da mora biti obdelovanec električno prevoden za uporabo elektroerozijske obdelave. S poizkusi so dokazali, da je mogoče obdelovati tudi električno neprevodne materiale, kot je keramika. Področja uporabe elektroerozije se z leti večajo, saj jo uporabljajo tudi v kombinaciji z preostalimi nekonvencionalnimi postopki, zaradi večje učinkovitosti. Fizikalni princip elektroerozije ostaja enak, medtem ko različne študije kažejo, da se elektroerozijska obdelava stalno izpopolnjuje.

Title:INNOVATIVE ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE MACHINING PROCESSES
Abstract:Electrical discharge machining is one of non-conventional machining processes and presents a processes, in which the material is constantly being removed due to the combination of electric and thermal energy. Sinker EDM and wire EDM are most commonly used in industry, since the accuracy, achieved with them, is very high. Until recently the workpiece had to be electrically conductive for the usage of electrical discharge machining. However, the experiments have shown that electrically non-conductive materials, such as ceramics, can also be treated. The scope of EDM has been increasing over the years, since it started to be used in combination with other non-conventional processes for greater efficiency. The physical principle of EDM remains the same; however, various studies show that electrical discharge machining is constantly being upgraded.
