S pomočjo rentgenske praškovne difrakcije (XRD) smo kvalitativno karakterizirali sintetizirane nanodelce kobaltovega ferita ter ocenili njihovo velikost. Meritve velikosti delcev smo opravili tudi z metodo dinamičnega sipanja svetlobe (DLS).

Title:MICROWAVE SYNTHESIS OF NANOPARTICLES
Abstract:The aim of the diploma work was to learn about microwave synthesis method and successfully use it for the synthesis of CoFe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles. At first we used two solvent mixtures (water/ethanol and water/1-hexanol) and an oleic acid as a surfactant in both systems. Due to the better dissolving of reagents, we focused our work on the solvent water/1-hexanol. In this system we examined the influence of the synthesis time and the amount of surfactant on the size of nanoparticles. Additionally we examined the growth of core-shell nanoparticles with seed-mediated approach. For seed-mediated approach we used seeds of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles, which exhibit the best crystallinity. Samples were characterized with XRD analysis and the crystallite size of cobalt ferrite nanoparticles was estimated by Scherrer equation. The size measurement was also performed by the method of dynamic light scattering (DLS). The method confirmed our previous size results of coated nanoparticles, while the rest of the samples agglomerated after some time. Reactions under the microwaves are extremely fast and offer many options for changing parameters. So today the microwave synthesis is becoming more and more important in synthetic chemistry and popular in scientific community.
