Title:PUBLIC SCHOOL OF SLIVNICA PRI MARIBORU UNTIL 1941
Abstract:The title of my diploma paper is Public school Slivnica pri Mariboru until the year 1941. The purpose of my diploma paper was to introduce a development of primary school in Slivnica pri Mariboru and to compare development of primary schools in different areas in Slovenia. I was interested in school’s organization, to meet the principal, to meet the teachers and to find out the numbers of pupils and number of school-age children in the area. The important aim of my diploma paper was to find out the political affiliation of the school and based on that the teaching language. The research methods that I used in my theoretical part were descriptive, comparative and historical method. These three methods were good for describing the facts and processes (descriptive method), for studying processes and their inter comparison (comparative method) and for studying and describing the past (historical method). The results that I gained were precisely achieved, except one aim which was not conformed by any facts or documents in the school chronic. The proof for that kind of circumstances in the school and the school language is the law which was legal for whole Styria and Carinthia. German language was official and school language. It is hard to determine or to assure the nationality of the public school Slivnica pri Mariboru in the Austro -Hungarian dominance. The only proof that they were teaching in Slovene language is the name of the school, since public school means school where they use mother tongue. That kind of finding was very important for the researching of primary schools in the Styria in the time of the end of the First World War.
