Title:SOCIOLOŠKI VIDIKI IZPOSTAVLJENOSTI SLOVENSKIH SREDNJEŠOLCEV NASILJU V DRUŽINI IN MOŽNOSTI UKREPANJA

Abstract:V doktorski disertaciji smo obravnavali značilnosti problematike izpostavljenosti otrok, predvsem pa mladostnikov, nasilju v družini v različnih zgodovinskih obdobjih. S komparativno analizo in pregledom empiričnega raziskovanja tako v globalnem kot v slovenskem okolju, smo opravili tudi pregled socioloških teoretskih pristopov na tem področju, kot tudi značilnosti slovenske zakonodaje in prakse. Predstavili smo značilne preventivne pristope v nekaterih drugih državah in možnosti preventivne dejavnosti v Sloveniji. Izpostavili smo vlogo in možnosti šole pri preprečevanju izpostavljenosti otrok in mladostnikov nasilju v družini. Namen empiričnega dela disertacije je bil zapolnitev vrzeli na področju raziskovanja izpostavljenosti slovenskih mladostnikov nasilju v družini. Osredotočili smo se na srednješolsko populacijo in med 1200 srednješolci, izbranimi v raziskovalni vzorec, anketirali 1087 srednješolcev iz vseh slovenskih regij. V drugi raziskovalni vzorec pa smo vključili šolske svetovalne delavce iz 100 slovenskih srednjih šol in anketirali 60 šolskih svetovalnih delavcev. Potrdili smo naše predvidevanje, da je obseg izpostavljenosti slovenskih srednješolcev nasilju v družini bistveno večji, kot ga prikazujejo uradni statistični podatki. Delež naših srednješolcev, ki so izpostavljeni različnim oblikam nasilja v družini, je visok (40,2 %) in neodvisen od spola žrtve. Med oblikami nasilja, ki so jim srednješolci izpostavljeni v svoji družini, smo potrdili prevladovanje psihičnega nasilja. Izpostavljenost srednješolcev nasilju v družini je značilna za družine vseh družbenih slojev, vendar predstavlja nizek socialno-ekonomski status družine, predvsem pa slabo materialno stanje družine, značilni rizični dejavnik. Rezultati kažejo, da večina srednješolcev, ki so izpostavljeni nasilju v družini, ne prepoznava prisotnosti nasilja v svoji družini in ne išče pomoči. Senzibilnost šolskih strokovnih delavcev za prepoznavanje izpostavljenosti srednješolcev nasilju v družini in nadaljnje prijave je zelo različna. Pomembni oviri za prijavo sta vrednotenje zasebnosti družine in strah srednješolcev pred prijavo. Pri obravnavi problematike izpostavljenosti srednješolcev nasilju v družini pa izstopa problem nezadostnega medinstitucionalnega sodelovanja. Na osnovi spoznanj teoretičnega in empiričnega dela disertacije smo oblikovali predlog socialnoekološkega preventivnega modela preprečevanja izpostavljenosti otrok in mladostnikov nasilju v družini.

Title:SOCIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE EXPOSURE OF SLOVENE SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS TO FAMILY VIOLENCE AND THE POSSIBILITIES OF ACTION
Abstract:The dissertation deals with the characteristics of issues of children’s exposure, adolescents especially, to domestic violence through various historical periods. With comparative analysis and examination of the empirical part in a global and Slovene environment, an analysis of the sociological theoretical aspects of this area as well as the characteristics of the Slovenian legislation and praxis has been done. Typical preventive measures in some other countries and the possibilities of the preventive activity in Slovenia have been introduced. The role and the possibilities of a school in preventing the exposure of children to the domestic violence have been exposed. The purpose of the empirical part of the dissertation was to fill up the gaps in the area of research about the exposure of Slovene adolescents to domestic violence. The focus was on the secondary school population, and among the 1200 secondary school students chosen for the sample, we interviewed 1087. The second sample included school counsellors in 100 Slovenian secondary schools, of which we interviewed 60 school counsellors. The anticipation that the level of secondary school children’s exposure to domestic violence is essentially higher than presented by the official statistical data has been confirmed. The segment of secondary school students exposed to various forms of domestic violence is high (40,2 %) and gender independent. Among the forms of violence the secondary school students are exposed to in their families, the prevalence of mental violence has been confirmed. The exposure of the secondary school students to domestic violence is typical for families of all social stratus but a low socio-economical status of a family, a low material welfare in particular, present a typical risk factor. The results show the majority of students exposed to domestic violence do not recognize its presence in their families and do not seek help. Sensibility of the school counsellors to recognize the exposure of the secondary school students to domestic violence and to report it further is different. The valuation of family’s privacy and the students’ fear of reporting are substantial obstacles. A problem of insufficient interinstitutional co-operation with dealing with the problem of exposure of the secondary school students to domestic violence stands out. Based on the result of the theoretical and empirical part of the dissertation a proposal of socio-ecological preventive model for preventing exposure of children and adolescents to domestic violence has been formed.
