Title:SLOVENIAN SPRING 1988-1990
Abstract:In year 1988 one of the key periods of Slovenian history started. Then began the Slovenian Spring, which indirectly started with the arrest of the Quartet, Janša, Borštner, Tasić and Zavrl and a trial against them. Committee for the Protection of Human Rights was formed parallel to the arrests. In May 1989 Tone Pavček read May Declaration, which had a counterpart in the charter. May Declaration was the basis of the political agenda of new political parties, which were established after the year 1988. In January 1989 thus created the first real political opposition called Slovenian Democratic Union. After a long absence due to a disagreement with the communist system and power returned from Germany dr. Jože Pučnik, who held together Demos, the Democratic Opposition of Slovenia, which had the opportunity to lead the first freely elected Slovenian government on the first free elections since World War II.
Keywords:Slovenian Spring, the Committee for the Protection of Human Rights, May Declaration, the Slovenian Democratic Union, dr. Jože Pučnik, Demos.
