Abstract:Čebele so pomemben del našega okolja. Pred letom 2011 smo v Sloveniji, glede na pretekle izkušnje, sprejeli veliko koristnih ukrepov, povezanih z izobraževanjem in seznanjanjem uporabnikov pesticidov, prodajalcev, kmetov in čebelarjev.

Title:MASS DEATH OF BEES IN SLOVENIA IN 2011
Abstract:Bees are an important part of our environment. Without their most important role of pollination, is likely, that we remain without food. Pesticides are used in agriculture to protect crops, such as protective against diseases and pests. A large, uncontrolled and improper use can be fatal for plants, animals and human health. Types of pesticides are also neonicotinoids, which adversely impact on the insects, which include the bees. Cases of mass collapse of honeybees in year 2011 in Slovenia was the result of the use of neonicotinoids. Results of analyzes of seed maize, plants of oilseed rape, pollens and dead bees showed, that the cause of mass collapses of bees was clothianidin, together with the interaction of some other pesticides for seeds protect and the combination of specific circumstances. Slovenia has comprehensively regulated the field of transport, sale and use of plant protection products, which is also consistent with the law and the recommendations of the European Union. The competent authorities are responsible for ensuring food safety, animal welfare and public health. Their mission is prevention and preventive action, before mass collapse of bees happens. Before 2011, Slovenia, based on past experience, had developed a number of useful measures related to education and awareness of pesticide users, vendors, farmers and beekeepers. However, we have witnessed a renewed mass collapses of bees in 2011. We must realize that the success of the measures depends on the proper use and control of pesticides. Mass collapses of bees in 2011 showed that required scope of individual plant protection products must be further regulate and strengthen the control over their use.
