Abstract:Za zagotovitev potresne varnosti konstrukcije je potrebno določiti maksimalne projektne obremenitve konstrukcije v skladu s predpisom.

Title:LATERAL FORCE METHOD OF ANALYSIS AND MODAL RESPONSE SPECTRUM ANALYSIS: THE COMPARISON OF RESULTS
Abstract:To ensure the seismic safety of structures it is necessary to determine the maximum design load of structure in accordance with the regulations. Standard EN 1998-1:2006 at the analysis of the structure allows for certain simplifications, which depend of the structure floor correctness as well as the regularity of structure height. For height correct structures, may be used the lateral force method. Structures that do not qualify for the correctness of the height, it is necessary to use more challenging modal response spectrum analysis. Although this method is not required for height correct constructions, it is allowed to be used instead of the lateral force method of analysis. Essence of the thesis is a comparison of the results of both approaches (lateral force method of analysis and modal response spectrum analysis) to calculate the seismic effects of height correct structure. For the selected structure which is properly also in plan, based on planar models with both methods we calculated sizes of project seismic forces, and their horizontal displacements. In this way we can get an insight into the advisability of using the modal response spectrum analysis in the height correct structures. The results of computational analysis in our case showed that the calculated values vary significantly with the choice of method.
