Abstract:Diplomsko delo z naslovom Koroške ljudske zgodbe zapisovalca Vinka Möderndorferja je bilo zapisano na podlagi analize izbranih kratkoproznih besedil, ki jih je zbral in uredil eden najpomembnejših koroških zbirateljev folklornega gradiva, Vinko Möderndorfer.

Title:Carinthian folk story writer Vinko Möderndorfer
Abstract:Diploma thesis entitled Carinthian folk story writer Vinko Möderndorfer was written on the basis of the analysis of the chosen short story texts that were collected and organized by one of the most important collectors of folklore material from Carinthia, Vinko Möderndorfer. The purpose of the work was to define the theory of folk “small literary genres” (Kos, 1996, str.155), like fairytales, tales, fables, myths, legends, riddles, proverbs, sayings, and anecdotes. The goal of the topic was to analyze individual stories and arrange them in reference to the content and form in a certain literary genre. In the second part the emphasis was on the topic and motifs of the works, the final part is intended for the description of the Carinthian mythical creatures. The methods are selected in reference to the diploma thesis, which is theoretical. In the description of the mythical creatures and the theory of the short story texts the hypothesis were tested with the use of the descriptive method, the facts were compared in the final, and the theoretical part, as well as in the analysis of the works with the help of the comparative method, the method of synthesis and analysis was used in analyzing and summarizing the works chosen. All these methods led to the following results: short stories are of folk nature as they were passed on from generation to generation. Altogether there is one hundred and one story; twenty two fairytales, twenty three myths and mythical tales, nine legends, and forty seven tales. Tales are in chapters arranged in reference to the topic and motifs of the content; many are linked to the topic of death, the belief in the afterlife, mythical creatures, etc.; some have fairytale and animal motifs. Some of the works are well known and popular with children as they talk about them in school. In Carinthia there are typical mythical creatures that are introduced in reference to the place they have in the spiritual tradition, and are arranged by the typology, characteristics and by the role they have in different motifs and contents.
