Title:INTEGRACIJA BAZ PODATKOV V ŠTUDENTSKEM DOMU

Abstract:Diplomska naloga obravnava izdelavo prototipnega modela za prenovo informacijskega sistema za vodenje podatkov o stanovalcih v Dijaškem in študentskem domu Kranj. Obstoječi sistem sicer koristi nekatere prednosti sodobne informacijske tehnologije, vendar so posamezni deli med seboj nepovezani in vsak posamezni segment tako zahteva svoj ločen proces vnosa, obdelave ter dostopa do želenih podatkov. To predstavlja ključni problem, za katerega je bilo potrebno poiskati primerno rešitev in pripraviti ustrezen model, ki bo povezal vse sisteme ter omogočal enoten vnos podatkov, njihovo varno shranjevanje, obdelavo ter hiter in enostaven priklic želenih podatkov. Ob tem pa upoštevati in uporabiti zgolj obstoječe programske in strojne vire. Na temelju kritične analize obstoječega stanja zbiranja in ravnanja s podatki, zlasti o prebivalcih študentskega doma, ter na podlagi trenutnih možnosti, ki jih ponuja razvoj na tem področju, smo izdelali model, ki ponuja rešitev omenjene problematike. Predlagani prototipni model temelji na izgradnji osrednje baze podatkov, ki vsebuje celoten nabor zbiranih podatkov in povezuje vse druge, lokalne baze, ki iz nje črpajo podatke za delovanje svojih sistemov. Na ta način se zmanjša možnost vnosa napak, saj se podatki v sistem vnašajo le enkrat in ob ustrezni organizaciji in dodelitvi pravic za uporabo in ravnanje s podatki, se poveča tudi stopnja varnosti ter zagotovi njihova sledljivost. Model je praktično izvedljiv in v obstoječih razmerah predstavlja optimalno in gospodarno rešitev. Na ta način je bil problem sistematično in metodološko obdelan, na temelju tega pa izdelana primerna rešitev, ki ustreza želenemu stanju in zagotavlja predvidene rezultate.

Title:DATABASE INTEGRATION IN STUDENT DORMITORY
Abstract:The thesis deals with the development of prototype model for the redesign of information system for managing data on residents in student dormitory 'Dijaški in študentski dom Kranj'. The existing system employs only part of benefits modern information technology has to offer, but the components are not adequately connected. Each individual segment requires a separate process of entering, editing and accessing of desired data. This represents the essential problem which requires an appropriate solution. Suitable model had to be developed that will integrate all systems and enable unified process to enter data, its safe storage and handling, as well as quick and easy retrieval of desired data. It has to achieve all that with only the use of existing software and hardware resources. Based on critical analysis of current process of data collection and handling, particularly about the dormitory residents, and based on the current capabilities and development in this field, a new model was proposed. Model suggests building a central database, which contains a full set of collected data with all other local databases receiving data from it for their own operation. Chance of entering incorrect data into the system is greatly reduced this way, as the data is entered only once. With the proper organization and allocation of usage and handling permissions, the level of safety increases and better data traceability is ensured. The model integration is feasible and presents an optimal and economically justified solution. Problem was systematically and methodologically treated and a viable solution was produced that matched the desired system state and assured anticipated results.
