Title:ETHICAL DECISION MAKING OF MANAGERS
Abstract:In my undergraduate seminar relates to the topic which is currently very much in focus. Decision made by CEO in recent years has put under the microscope, because the company after many years of successful business is now closing its doors. Of course, a global economic crisis had impact on the collapse of the companies, but the causes of collapse are evident elsewhere. Companies that have worked well for many years, with successful management has survived global economic crisis successfully. The economic crisis revealed deficiencies that have occurred in the company for many years. Before crisis.deficiencies.were.hidden.in.progress. Key research questions on which we tried to answer through a graduate seminar are: is ethics present when CEO’s are making decisions and are CEO’s reluctant to ethics or ethics in daily decision making rather easily put aside. Many companies that have recently been appearing in the media show a very bad picture of ethical decision-making in society. Do not forget that in the Slovenian area are also good companies with ethical decisions.are.incontrovertible. Graduate seminar consists of theoretical work, where we get to know the ethics, ethical decision-making and to improve the ethics of managers. In empirical part of graduate seminar we focus on Slovenian managers: Hilda Tovšak, Bine Kordež in Ivan Zidar. I have raised three arguments, which I will try to prove:  Managers must make ethical decisions, otherwise consequences of their decisions soon to be seen.  Managers must daily deal with ethical dilemmas.  Ethics cannot be learned. Either we have it or not. In the undergraduate seminar, we focus only on decisions of managers, but not on other features. For those managers, we decided therefore to show how far people are willing to go for a better position or a better financial situation. From collected material, newspapers, broadcasts etc. we have tried to distinguish the ethical conduct of managers. Of course all written in ethically questionable behavior we have no evidence, because we did not have access to documents of companies, banks and courts. We have available only what appears in the media.
