Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo s sistematičnim pristopom izvedli postopek površinske obdelave pigmentnega titanovega dioksida (TiO2), saj le-ta igra pomembno vlogo pri izboljšanju lastnosti TiO2 (optične lastnosti, vremenska obstojnost in fotostabilnost).

Title:STUDY OF PIGMENTARY TiO 2 SURFACE TREATMENT WITH INORGANIC MATERIALS
Abstract:Within this work a systematic approach of TiO2 pigment surface treatment was carried out. Surface treatment plays a significant role in the sense of TiO2 properties improvement (optical properties, weather resistance, and photo stability). With the intention of improvement of pigmentary properties, homogeneous, transparent layers of inorganic hydrated oxides (SiO2 and/or Al2O3) on the surface of pigmentary TiO2 were formed to suppress the influence of external weather conditions. Surface treatment requests a deeper understanding of colloidal chemistry principles. The process is complex and dynamic and could be governed into the desired direction, when controlling the adequate conditions. Layer morphology and final properties of surface treated pigment are affected by process conditions (temperature, pH, process speed, precursor, the sequence of process steps). For that reason, the research comprehends the raw materials analysis and process conditions examination. Sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) was used as a source of SiO2 and sodium aluminate (NaAlO2) was used as a source of Al2O3. The effectiveness of surface treatment was determined using scanning (SEM) and transmission (TEM) electron microscopy, while the changes in TiO2 electrochemical properties before and after surface treatment were determined using particle charge detector (PCD). The BET analyzer was measured BET specific surface area of particles. The functional groups on the surface of the pigments were determined by FTIR device.
Keywords:Pigmentary TiO2, surface treatment, precipitation, inorganic hydrated oxides SiO2 and Al2O3.
