Title:Fenotipska variabilnost križancev med koruzo in teozinto

Abstract:V poskusu, izvedenem v letih 2006 in 2007 v kraju Spodnja Ščavnica, smo proučevali fenotipsko pestrost potomstev križanja med koruzo (Zea mays L.) in teozinto (Zea mexicana, syn. Euchlaena mexicana). Pri starševskih rastlinah in potomcih smo proučevali barvo perikarpa zrna na storžu, barvo klasinca storža ter razvejanost in razraščenost rastlin. V raziskavo so bili vključeni vzorci semena iz različnih rastlin in z različnimi barvami perikarpa zrna. Raziskava je pokazala, da je dedovanje barve perikarpa zapleten genetski pojav. Pri omenjenem medvrstnem križanju so se poleg pričakovanih barv perikarpa pojavili tudi nekateri povsem novi sistemi pigmentacije. Interakcija genomov koruze in teozinte je imela vpliv tudi na oblikovanje specifičnih oblik razraščanja in razvejanosti rastlin.

Title:Phenotypic variability among maize × teosinta hybrids
Abstract:The final research was carried out during the years 2006 and 2007 in Spodnja Ščavnica, Slovenia. The main purpose of this study was to analyse phenotypic diversity of progenies derived from crosses between maize (Zea mays L.) and teosinta (Zea mexicana, syn. Euchlaena mexicana). The pericarp color of the seed, the color of the cob, tillering and formation of side branches were studied on parental plants and their F5 progenies. The study showed that the inheritance of pericarp was genetically very complex. Along with the expected standard pericarp colors, we also noticed the occurrence of some completely new pigmentation systems. The recombination of the two studied genomes (maize and teosinta) also resulted in tillering and branching of stems.
