Abstract:V diplomskem delu z naslovom Tekalne sposobnosti pet in pol let starih otrok sem v teoretičnem delu predstavila model motorike in senzomotoričnih sposobnosti otrok ter pomen splošne telesne vzdržljivosti.

Title:RUNNING ABILITIES OF FIVE-AND-A-HALF-YEAR OLD CHILDREN
Abstract:In its theoretical part my diploma paper entitled Running Abilities of Five-And-A-Half-Year-Old Children brings the model of motory properties and senso-motory abilities of children, along with the significance of general physical perse-verance, with the latter being not only a significant human functional ability but also the basis for a healthy development of a child. The paper summarizes the findings as regards walking and running which affect the development of perse-verance, along with the findings as regards persistent running itself. Last but not least, the problems as regards the testing of perseverance on the part of the chil-dren have also been addressed. In the empirical part of the study I have dealt with the running abilities of five-and-a-half-year old children of both sexes in that I have measured elapsed time and the frequency of the heart prior, during and after a 1,000-metre persis-tent running and compared them to related findings of the study by dr. Rajtmajer. The data I have gathered in this way are presented in graphs and tables. I have also computed descriptive statistical parameters for both sexes and performed an analysis and comparison of acquired data. I have found, on the basis of the results of the study, that the children of both sexes of the above said age are capable of running the distance of 1,000 metres in a relatively short period of time of six to ten minutes in that the average pulse at the end of the run was 199 (boys) and 201 (girls) which suggests that the children of the said age are capable of aerobic loads in the form of persistent ru-nning. Another important feature with all the children has been the fact that their pulse has quickly decreased to the level prior to warm-up and load.
