Z raziskavo v magistrski nalogi smo želeli ugotoviti, če obstaja povezava med načinom prehranjevanja, družbenim slojem, izobrazbo in zdravstvenim stanjem starostnikov.

Title:Comparison of nutritive habits of Pomurje and Primorska elderly people
Abstract:Healthy nutrition is the basis for preserving good health, well-being and the quality of life in advanced years. With a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle, we can greatly reduce and overcome the risks of inappropriate food-related diseases and influence the length and quality of life. Physiological, psychological, economical and sociological factors have a significant impact on the nutrition and health condition of an elderly person. With a research in the master's thesis, we wanted to determine if there is a connection between the nutrition regime, social class, education and health condition of elderly persons. We also wanted to find out which are the major differences in eating habits between elderly persons from the Pomurje region and elderly persons from the Coastal-Karst region. Research methodology. The quantitative methodology was used in the research. For quantitative data, SPSS program was used, by means of which the statistical data analysis was implemented (descriptive analysis, χ2 test, t-test). The research included 50 elderly persons from the Pomurje region and 50 elderly persons from the Coastal-Karst region, who are members of the Pensioners' Organization. A standardized questionnaire about the eating habits of elderly persons was used as a technique of collecting data. Results. Depending on the region, there are differences in eating habits among elderly people, particularly in terms of consumption of meat and fat. The research has shown that 64 % elderly persons of Pomurje region suffer from cardiovascular diseases, and a domination of disorder of motoric system among the elderly persons of the Coastal region (58 %). Overweight or obesity of elderly persons in the Pomurje region amounts even to 40 %, while the obesity of elderly persons in the Coastal region adds up to 20 % only. We identified a strong connection between cardiovascular diseases, body mass index, social class and the level of education. Conclusion. The number of elderly persons increases by years, therefore it would be necessary to prepare and promote joint recommendations for a healthy lifestyle in a third life age. With regard to this, a nurse and other medical staff in health education play an important role in this work.
