Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava vključevanje žensk v politiko ter govori o neenakosti zastopanosti žensk in moških v politiki. Prikazuje spol in politiko ter izenačenost pojmov javno — politično, kamor so praviloma uvrščeni moški, in zasebno — nepolitično, kamor so praviloma uvrščene ženske.
Keywords:Ključne besede: ženske, politika, spol, konvencionalna politična participacija, zanimanje za politiko, zastopanost v politiki, države naslednice nekdanje Jugoslavije.

Title:WOMEN'S PARTICIPATION IN THE POLITICS OF FORMER YUGOSLAVIA
Abstract:Diploma thesis deals with women's political participation and inequality of participation of women versus men in politics. It also depicts gender and politics, and equalization of terms public – political, which is typically represented by men, and private – non-political, which is typically represented by women. It discusses some of the stereotypes that affect the lower number of women in politics, especially in leadership and decision-making bodies. It talks about political participation, which is divided into conventional and non-conventional participation, and explains why women in politics are needed. It also presents factors which have an effect on women’s political participation and explains the main reasons for their low representation in politics. The main purpose of the thesis is to examine women’s participation in politics in the countries of former Yugoslavia. This is why a study was made that examined the level of interest of men and women in politics and also dealt with gender differences in political participation, based on their political participation and representation in government and parliament. We also wanted to know if economically more developed countries of former Yugoslavia have a higher level of women’s participation, based on their electoral and non-electoral political participation, interest in politics and their representation in government and parliament.
Keywords:women, politics, gender, conventional political participation, interest in politics, representation in politics, countries of former Yugoslavia.
