Title:TEHNOLOGIJE ZMANJŠEVANJA KONCENTRACIJE RADONA V ZAPRTIH PROSTORIH

Abstract:Naloga obravnava žlahtni plin radon, ki prispeva največji delež k dozi od naravnegasevanja v bivalnih prostorih. Na začetku dela so opisane fizikalno-kemijske lastnosti radona, njegov transport skozi zemljino in vstop v zgradbe ter njegov vpliv na zdravje. V nadaljevanju so podane raziskave in meritve, ki so bile izvedene v vrtcih in šolah Slovenije, podani so geološki podatki in prikazana področja povečanega tveganja za povišane koncentracije radona v odvisnosti od geologije. Sledijo različne metode/rešitve odpravljanja oziroma zmanjševanja koncentracij radona pri projektiranju novih oziroma sanaciji starih objektov, ki so po večini vzete iz publikacij ameriške okoljske agencije EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). Na koncu je podan še primer reševanja problema previsoke koncentracije radona v zraku vrtca v Idriji, zgrajenega na ostankih prežgane živosrebrne rude.

Title:INDOOR RADON REDUCTION TECHNOLOGIES
Abstract:The thesis focuses on the radioactive noble gas radon, whose contribution to the effective dose of a person at home is more than half of all the natural radioactive sources. In the beginning, its physical and chemical properties are described: transport through different media in the earth, entry into buildings, and impact on human health. Then, results of radon survey in all kindergartens and schools in Slovenia are compiled. Relationship between radon levels and geology of the country is shown. This is followed by radon mitigation procedures and their successfulness in buildings with high radon levels. As an example, mitigation measures undertaken in a kindergarten in Idrija, built on the mercury mill tailings, are presented.
