Abstract:V diplomskem delu so v prvem delu predstavljene hidrogeografske značilnosti porečja Gradaščice, ki so v drugem delu nadgrajene z možnostmi uporabe ekoremediacij za varovanje pred poplavami.Predstavljene so naravnogeografske in družbenogeografske značilnosti porečja, ki so pomemben dejavnik na celotnem poplavnem območju Gradaščice. Posebno poglavje je namenjeno krajinskim, ekosistemskim in ekološkim značilnostim porečja, saj so ekoremediacije sonaravni način upravljanja z vodami, zato je pomembno, da se predhodno seznanimo tudi s temi značilnostmi, ker ekoremediacijski ukrepi pomembno vplivajo tudi na ta aspekt naravnega okolja.Osrednje delo diplomske naloge predstavljajo ekoremediacijski ukrepi v porečju Gradaščice. Leta 2003 so na Ministrstvu za okolje, prostor in energijo podali pobudo za izdelavo načrta za poplavno varnost jugozahodnega dela Ljubljane. V njem so predvideli gradnjo suhih zadrževalnikov, kar je močno vzburilo prebivalce celotne polhograjske in horjulske doline. Naloga diplomske naloge je tako prikazati, da zadrževalniki niso nujno potrebni in da lahko na sonaravni način že v povirnem delu zadržimo manjše in večje količine poplavnih voda. Ekoremediacije so tako ekološko sprejemljivejša ureditev, ki hkrati zmanjšujejo nevarnost hudourniških poplav.

Title:Hydrogeographical characteristics of the Gradaščica river basin and possibility of using ecoremedies to prevent floods
Abstract:In the first part of my diploma thesis I introduce the hydrogeographical characteristics of the Gradaščica river basin are presented. In the second part the possibilities of using the ecoremediations for flood prevention are introduced. First, I introduce the geographical and social characteristics of the Gradaščica river basin are presented which are an important factor of the entire Gradaščica flood region. A special chapter is intended to explain the landscape, ecosystem and ecological characteristics of the river basin. Ecoremediations represent the sustainable water management. Therefore, it is important to be informed with the characterictics of ecoremediations that affect the aspect of natural environment.The main part of the diploma thesis focuses on ecoremediation methods of the Gradaščica river basin. In 2003, on the initiative of the Ministry of the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy, the flood prevention plan for the South – Western part of Ljubljana was made in which the construction of retention basins was foreseen. That upset the inhabitants of the Polhov Gradec and Horjul region. In my diploma thesis I want to explain that retention basins are not indispensably needed due to smaller or bigger amonunts of flood water can be retained in the headwater part on a sustainable manner. Ecoremediations are therefore ecologically more acceptable approach, which at the same time reduce the threat of torrent floods.
