Abstract:Pupavac, M.: Fizikalno—kemijske in biološke lastnosti Ivarčkega jezera ter možnost uporabe ERM sistemov.

Title:Physical, Chemical and Biological Characteristics of Lake Ivarčko and Possibilities of the Use of ERM Systems.
Abstract:Pupavac, M.: Physical, Chemical and Biological Characteristics of Lake Ivarčko and Possibilities of the Use of ERM Systems. Degree paper, University of Maribor, Faculty of Arts, Department of Geography, 2010. There are many lakes in Slovenia, which are not regularly monitored, but still have important roles like suppressing the water, gaining electrical energy, providing the water to make snow on ski slopes and a very important biodiversity function. Eutrophication or polluting with fertilizers, communal waste and household waste appears to be a big problem. It causes slow dieback of the lakes and loss of their function. The reason why we wanted to do more research was the lack of general and geographical information about the Lake Ivarčko and a lack of water analyses. We decided to supplement information and to aid to a better understanding of the condition of the lake. With accessories for water analyses Visicolor and Visicolor ECO we did some research in hydrological laboratory at Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor. We checked the content of nitrogen compounds, phosphates, phosphorus, zinc, iron, oxygen and we measured pH value, callousness and electric conductivity of the water. We found out that the water is in a good state, even though there are some typical indicators for eutrophication of the lake like algae and algal bloom. We started to search for the reasons and discovered that some ecoremediation methods already exist in the water, on the shore and outside the lake. Those methods are riprap, jetties, reed, sedge and vegetative barrier. According to results gained in 1992 and 2010 we assumed that those methods are the reason that the water of Lake Ivarčko is in such a good state. It is important to make people aware of the importance of ecoremediation systems. That is the only way that those methods will be able to maintain such a good water state in the future. To conclude, ecoremediations are the most suitable method for purification and protection of lakes.
