Abstract:Hiter in velikokrat tudi (pre)obremenjen način življenja je ponavadi kriv za stres in njegove posledice, kot so: nemir, nespečnost, splošno nezadovoljstvo, razdražljivost, naveličanost, brezvoljnost, nezbranost, razne telesne in duševne bolezni itd. Zanimalo me je, kako pogosto slovenski učitelji razrednega pouka vključujejo sprostitveno vzgojo v svoj pouk, kakšne tehnike uporabljajo in s kakšnim namenom jih uporabljajo.

Title:MANDALA, A SOURCE OF WELL-BEING AND CREATIVE TEACHING AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL
Abstract:The fast and often (pre)occupied way of life is usually to blame for stress and its effects, such as restlessness, insomnia, general dissatisfaction, irritability, weariness, listlessness, absence, various physical and mental diseases and so forth. In order to better grapple with this way of life and to prevent, mitigate or cure the above effects of stress many people reach for relaxation – relaxation of the body and mind. My thesis therefore discusses relaxation of primary school children with a technique during which they create mandalas. In the theoretical part I presented some of today's most well-known relaxation techniques and basic concepts associated with the mandala. I merely referred to the research of the meaning of the mandala in terms of rituals, religions, meditation, the universe and its impact on humans. This part also presents some tips and suggestions when we decide to use relaxation techniques in lower primary school classes. In the empirical part I presented a study that I have conducted. I wanted to acknowledge how often Slovenian primary school teachers include relaxation education in their classes, what techniques are used and for what purpose. I also wanted to determine if they know the relaxation technique during which mandalas are created. The purpose was also to find out how the pupils of the lower primary school level feel during creating mandalas and provide them with yet another method of relaxation. I wanted to see that with my own eyes. The study included 41 primary school teachers and 11 pupils of the 5th grade. For the purpose of the research the descriptive and causal non-experimental method of empirical pedagogical research had been used. The results have been obtained by means of a questionnaire to classroom teachers and by an oral survey of the pupils. The research showed that all interviewed teachers include relaxation education in their classes, usually at least once a week. In doing so they are very dynamic, because they use many different techniques of relaxation. It turned out that more than half of surveyed teachers (25) are familiar with the relaxation through mandalas, but not all of them have used it in their classes. Pupils who participated in the survey found that mandalas were interesting, while making them they felt calm, relaxed. A nice atmosphere took place in the whole class.
