Title:Diesel to vegetable oil engine conversion
Abstract:The conversion from diesel to vegetable oil engine is possible, if the car meets certain requirements. First requirement is a Bosch diesel fuel pump. On older classic diesel cars with swirl chamber, there are one or twotank sistem conversion possible. By motors with direct gas injection exists a bigger possibility for leaking of cold vegetable oil trough the piston rings to the motor oil, what can cause polymerilization-gelling of motor oil, what can lead to increased wear of machine parts. In this case the twotank system is more suitable. The car is started with diesel from one tank, when the motor heats up, we switch to vegetable oil from other tank and back to diesel few minutes before reaching destination or turning the motor off. This kind of use is also friendlier to the diesel fuel pump. Both, one and twotank system require changing of fuel lines, because vegetable oil can deteriorate the tubes. Twotank system also requires mounting of second tank and electro valves on intake and outtake of fuel lines. This thesis presents fuels and propulsion systems in which they are applied, theoretical conversion background, complete diesel to vegetable oil conversion procedure of a diesel VW Golf 2 car, emission testing analysis, legal background and the potential use of this informations in the school class lecture.
