Abstract:Od nastanka samostojne Slovenije do danes je bilo mnogo občin novoustanovljenih (oziroma odcepljenih od matične občine).

Title:APPRAISAL OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MUNICIPALITY MARKOVCI BASED ON SELECTED ECONOMIC INDICATORS
Abstract:Many municipalities have been created (or have seceded from central municipality) since the independence of Slovenia until nowadays. At independence, Slovenia has been divided into 58 municipalities, but today we have 210 of them. One of these young municipalities is also municipality Markovci which is studied in this thesis. The beginning introduces the theoretical concept of local self-government in Slovenia, and then we start to state specific information about considered municipality. The central part presents the processing of data by demographic and economic spheres, obtained from publicly available databases (Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Public Legal Records and Related Services and Statistical office of the Republic of Slovenia). Despite the initial negative growth of population has subsequently turned out positive growth, as is typical for Slovenia. In 2009, the level of average net salary in the municipality Markovci has reached 90 percent of the average Slovenian net salary. During the observational period, number of enterprises per 1000 habitants in the municipality Markovci, has been growing, but it is moving away from the Slovenian average. In the years from 1999 to 2008, the gross investments in the municipality Markovci increased by 90 percentage points higher than in Slovenia. However, they are much lower per inhabitant. During the observational period in the municipality Markovci, total revenues per employee are increasing, but income levels per employee deviate from the Slovenian average. Key sectors in the municipality Markovci are manufacturing, construction and hospitality industry, which are achieving the highest net value added per employee and contribute the largest share of total income. We found that on average municipality Markovci in comparison with other reference municipalities has similar development; in some categories its situation is better and in some cases is worse.
