Title:C02 EMISSION TRADING AND IMPACT ON ENTERPRISE OPERATIONS
Abstract:The economic development and increasing number of population result in greater impact on the environment on the global level, which is not in line with the sustainable development goals. The global environmental problem are the greenhouse gas emission which are the result of human activity and are the main reason for climate change. The fight against climate changes is at the moment the greatest challenge of the mankind. The countries, especially international organizations, adopt different measures to reduce the harmful gas emissions. The solutions are various: higher taxes for gas emissions, use of environmental friendly technology, one of most important is trading with the emission allowances for greenhouse gases. EU, being at the top of the fight against the climate changes, is drafting the revision for the trading scheme by spreading the trading to new types of greenhouse gases, including new industrial pollutants. This shall have an impact on the operation and way of thinking of many companies. The most will have to face additional costs incurred by investment in the environmental friendly technologies and start searching for new solution to acquire competition advantages. The role of the state is decisive in this regard, because it has to set financial and formal conditions for the investments to be worth it. The climate changes should not be considered only as the threat, but also as an opportunity for accelerated implementation of new, environment friendly technologies, restructuring of economy and introducing new values in our every day life. The decisive role shall be given to public awareness, user awareness, awareness of decision makers and policy makers.
