Abstract:Več znaš, več veljaš. Metode, uporabljene v diplomskem delu, so opredelitev problema, iskanje informacij, razvrščanje člankov in analiza podatkov (prevladuje deskriptivna metoda).

Title:"IDRIJSKA REALKA" - THE IDRIJA NONCLASSICALSECONDARY SCHOOL THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHEMIST AND A HISTORIAN
Abstract:The more you know, the more you grow. Already our ancestors who strived for the development of education in Slovenia were well aware of the importance of knowledge. The Slovene education system has been discussed under several aspects, however not much has been said in terms of the subject of chemistry, which is the main issue of the present diploma thesis. The thesis first discusses the development of education in Slovenia during different periods, and thus also in Idrija, whereas the focus lies on data about the “Idrijska realka” referring to the years between 1901 and 1920. The interpretation of data is strongly connected to chemistry as the school subject. Based on facts from Idrija newspapers from that period, I am presenting the syllabus of the school, the didactic contents, the percentage of natural history subjects (natural history, physics, chemistry and mineralogy), and more thoroughly, the didactic content of the subject chemistry. Furthermore, chemistry teachers from that period are listed, there is a description of the laboratory which was used for teaching, and there is a list of student books that were in use. The methods used in the diploma thesis are: problem definition, data search, arranging of articles and data analysis (predominantly, the descriptive method is used). Although the acquired data does not reveal the overall picture of the development of chemistry as a school subject in Slovenia, it is indeed a good indicator of the situation as it existed during the period in question, i.e. between 1901 and 1920. Therefore, the present thesis provides at least a small part of the history of chemistry teaching in Slovenia.
Keywords:Keywords: development of education, syllabus, content of natural history subjects, content of the subject chemistry, chemistry teachers, chemistry laboratory, chemistry student books.
