Title:ANIMALS AS THE STARTING POINT FOR THE MOTIFS, SYMBOLS AND METAPHORICS IN SELECTED SHORT PROSE OF THE FIRST HALF OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY
Abstract:The aim of the thesis titled Animals As The Starting Point For The Motifs, Symbols And Metaphorics In Selected Short Prose Of The First Half Of The Twentieth Century was to discover which animals were the starting point for motifs, symbols and metaphoric expressionist type paradigm in appointed short proses by Ivan Cankar, France Bevk, Ivan Dornik and Miran Jarc. We were interested in the function of these animals, as we tried to prove that in this type of paradigm there appears to be mostly the symbolism of the ugly and the grotesque, which means that we are confronted mostly with vermin, nocturnal animals and insects. We noticed that in this symbolism there is a cooperation of other animals as well, with which the expressionist prose clearly illustrates certain ideals. There has always been an assumption that Ivan Cankar is the foundation of our literature, by whom many authors have been inspired. In this thesis we aimed to prove that Cankar did not affect the animalistic symbols, motifs and metaphorics of other authors with his symbolism.
