Abstract:Zdrava in ustrezna prehrana je pomemben dejavnik v skrbi za zdravje in s tem za kvaliteto življenja v starosti. Želeli smo ugotoviti prehrambene navade starostnikov in njihov način življenja v Prekmurju.

Title:HEALTH CARE OF AN OLD PERSON WITH EXCESSIVE WEIGHT PROBLEMS IN THE CINDI PROGRAMME
Abstract:Healthy and proper nutrition plays an essential role in health care and contributes to the quality of life in the old age. Only healthy nutrition supplies organism with all the necessary nutritional and protective elements, protecting it from some diseases as well as keeping it in good physical and psychical condition. Healthy nutrition affects the quality of life in the old age. Nutrition must be adapted to biological and energy requirements, which change through a man’s life, therefore quantitatively and qualitatively inadequate nutrition sooner or later causes health problems. The thesis presents an elderly overweight man in the CINDI programme. The theoretical part of the thesis addresses healthy nutrition in the old age and consequences of being overweight. A special section is dedicated to the CINDI programme and to the role of nurses as promoters of health and health education. The results of the research, which was conducted in the Community Health Centre of Murska Sobota, are presented in the empirical part. The questionnaire included 24 questions and 15 elderly persons participated. Our aim was to find out the nutrition habits of elderly persons and their lifestyle in the Prekmurje region. It was determined that the majority has bad nutrition habits and does little physical exercise, and that the CINDI programme is successful when getting slim or losing weight.
