Abstract:V diplomski nalogi raziskujem vpliv video tehnologije v slovenskem prostoru na razvoj nove umetniške zvrsti — video umetnosti.

Title:VIDEO ART IN SLOVENIA 1969-1990
Abstract:In my bachelor's degree thesis I am exploring the effect of video technology on the development of a new art form in Slovenia - video art. In line with the presentation of the most important Slovenian authors, responsible for the establishment of video art in Slovenia, and their video works, the main focus of the thesis is various types of production and their social context. The production in the 1970s was, inter alia, linked to the national television programme while video art in the 1980s was divided into institutionally established video art on the one hand and subcultural video on the other hand. When it comes to the status of the video medium we are also faced with the dilemma between an artistic means of expression and the commercial means of production. In the theoretical part of the thesis I establish that while handling of the new medium is changing according to the social context it is also marked with technological as well as cultural progress. I make a logical ending to my research with my own video product TRAINing that deals with the hiasm of two different times and perspectives of the travelling subject. This subject is daily confronted with the dialectics of the inner and the outer world. It is a person in the form of a thinking subject and an »object«, one number of the society's mechanism. At the same time the target attitude of a human, feeling anxious about the questionability of the target's essence at the end of each road, is being questioned.
