Abstract:V diplomski nalogi sem skušala predstaviti glavne izgovorne razlike vokalov med petim in recitiranim besedilom, s pomočjo moderne tehnologije, namreč tako imenovanega PRAAT programa.
Keywords:Ključne besede: vokal, peto besedilo, recitirano besedilo, britanski naglas, ameriški naglas, škotski naglas, dolžina vokala, odprtost vokala.

Title:PRONUNCIATION DIFFERENCES BETWEEN VOWELS IN SUNG AND RECITED TEXTS
Abstract:This paper tries to establish the main pronounciation differences between sung and recited texts, with the use of modern technology, namely the so called PRAAT programme. In order to get a clearer picture, my research consists of five major parts. The first one describes the main characteristics of vowels, while the second one focuses on different English accents (British, American, and Scottish accent) and the behaviour of vowels in each accent. The next two chapters deal with the analysis of sung text, including songs of these authors representing each accent and their recited equivalents re-enterpreted some of the professors from the English department. In the last part of this paper, concrete differences in and comparisons of the vowels in the sung and recited texts are to be found. I have come to the conclusion that vowels in the sung and recited texts show differences, especially in two vowel features: vowel lenght and vowel quality.
Keywords:Keywords: vowel, sung text, recited text, british accent, american accent, scottish accent, vowel lenght, vowel openness
