Title:PROMOTION OF SLOVENIA DURING IT'S PRESIDENCY
Abstract:The main theme of the thesis refers to question: is Slovenia more recognized precisely because of the presidency. Was the new slogan "I feel Slovenia" brought to force among the citizens of our republic? In the thesis we will present the Slovenian preparations to presidency EU Council in the first half of the year 2008. Slovenian presidency to EU is an opportunity for promotion of the country from political point of view - through which presidency priorities are reflected - as well as through activites from Slovenian national identity. First part of thesis emphasises mainly on the work of working group for public communications and promotion of Slovenia. We will present the Slovenian preparations to presidency of EU Council. How the preparations have been in process three years earlier and what needed to be arranged, before we took over the helm of European Union. It will be presented mainly by the help of internal documentation of Government Office for Development and European Affairs. Second, empirical part of the thesis will be based on the research and it's statistical processing. We will try to estimate this part with a survey. We will try to answer the following questions: - Has Slovenia done enough for it's recognition around the world? - The response of Slovenian citizens to slogan "I feel Slovenia" - Was the slogan "I feel Slovenia" brought to force among Slovenian citizens? The restriction of the first part of thesis is that we will have a limited insight to all the internal documents, and in the empirical part we are dealing with only the small sample of surveyed people, which certainly aggravates analysis or the results of the analysis.
