Title:Priprava tekstilnih substratov za selektivno filtriranje fenola iz odpadnih vod

Abstract:Ciklodekstrini so ciklični oligosaharidi, ki lahko v svoji notranjosti vežejo različne organske molekule in na ta način tvorijo komplekse. Zaradi te lastnosti bi lahko ciklodekstrine uporabljali kot selektivni filterni medij za odstranjevanje onesnaževal iz odpadnih vod. V okviru raziskovalnega dela magistrske naloge smo proučili možnost uporabe β-ciklodekstrina samega, vezanega v polimer ter vezanega na različne tekstilne substrate za odstranjevanje modelne molekule onesnaževala (fenola) iz vodnih raztopin. β-ciklodekstrin smo vezali na tekstilni material kovalentno s pomočjo 1,2,3,4-butan-tetrakarboksilne kisline (BTCA). Hidroksilne skupine β-ciklodekstrina in hidroksilne skupine celuloznih tekstilnih substratov tvorijo z BTCA esterske vezi, pri čemer se β-ciklodekstrin kemično veže/premreži na površino tekstilije. Pri poliesternih materialih poteka vezava β-ciklodekstrina preko tvorbe zamrežene strukture β-ciklodekstrina in BTCA ob istočasni adsorpciji te mreže na površino poliesternega materiala. β-ciklodekstrin vezan v polimer in različne tekstilne materiale obdelane z β-ciklodekstrinom smo vzpostavili v kontakt z onesnaževalom in proučili učinkovitost adsorpcije. S pomočjo merjenja preostalega fenola v raztopini smo proučevali učinkovitost tvorbe supramolekularnega kompleksa fenol/β-ciklodekstrin. Za ta namen smo uporabili UV/VIS spektroskopijo. Najboljše rezultate adsorpcije fenola smo dobili z obdelavo netkanega poliesternega tekstilnega materiala z β-ciklodekstrinom. Preučili smo tudi nastanek kompleksa β-ciklodekstrin/fenol ob prisotnosti drugega onesnaževala, formaldehida. Iz rezultatov raziskovalnega dela lahko zaključimo, da bi poliesterni tekstilni substrat obdelan z β-ciklodekstrinom lahko uporabili kot selektivni filterni material za odstranjevanje malih molekul onesnaževal iz vode; najučinkovitejša tvorba supramolekularnega kompleksa fenol/β-ciklodekstrin poteka, ko je β-ciklodekstrin vezan na netkan poliesterni material, pri pogojih nenehnega stresanja pri vrednosti pH raztopine 10.

Title:Preparation of textile materials for selective filtration of phenol from waste water
Abstract:Cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides which can form inclusion complexes with a large number of organic molecules. Due to this property, cyclodextrins could be used for selective filter medium for removal of various pollutants from waste waters. Research work was carried out to study the possibilities to use β-cyclodextrin alone, linked in the polymer and linked onto various textile substrates as a removal of model pollutant molecules (phenol) from water solutions. β-cyclodextrin was grafted on hydroxyl groups of cellulose via 1,2,3,4-butane-tetracarboxilic acid (BTCA), which forms ester bonds with hydroxyl groups of β-cyclodextrin and cellulose textile substrates. When polyester textile substrate was treated with β-cyclodextrin, supramolecular assembly was formed between b-cyclodextrin and BTCA first and such assembly was physically anchored simultaneously onto the textile substrate’s surface. β-cyclodextrin, polymer material prepared out of β-cyclodextrin and BTCA and various textile substrates treated with β-cyclodextrin were exposed into contact with pollutant and the efficiency of supramolecular complexes formation was studied. For this purposes UV/Vis spectroscopy was used. The most promising results were obtained when non-woven PES textile material treated with β-cyclodextrin was used. The complex formation of phenol in the present of the second pollutant (formaldehyde) was tested. It is possible to conclude that PES textile material treated with β-cyclodextrin could be used as selective filter material for of small pollutants from waste waters; the most efficient supramolecular complexation was achieved when β-cyclodextrin was linked to non-woven PES material at pH 10 with stirring.
