Title:INFLUENCE OF ISOLATION ON PATIENET IN TIME OF HOSPITALIZATION
Abstract:The purpose of this thesis is to examine the impact of isolation on the patient during hospitalization. In the theoretical part of the thesis, we describe the isolation, the purpose of insulation measures, categories and types of insulation and measures to prevent transmission of infections. We describe an attitude of medical staff to the patient as an entity or object in isolation, present a patient in isolation and described his socialization, emotions, psychological well-being and care by the isolation of strain. Included the impact of environmental factors and personality, as a reason of positive or negative effects of isolation. In the empirical part of thesis we analyzed 44 survey questions, which gave its opinion on 60 of those surveyed patients, hospitalized in isolation at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and Fevers in Ljubljana. With the survey we wanted to identify the positive reasons on how to deal with isolation, and causes of negative emotional reactions: concern, changed behaviour, lack of cooperation, irritability. On the basis of results we came to the conclusion that patients with a long period of isolation increase risk of mental changes, also weakens the relationship with relatives. Patients with a shorter period of time in isolation experience it otherwise - positive, have hope, while long-time isolation of a patient weakens the hope to cure.
Keywords:isolation, medical staff, patients, the impact of isolation, dealing with the isolation.
