Abstract:Ob koncu prve svetovne vojne smo Slovenci s koroškim plebiscitom izgubili Koroško, z Rapalsko mirovno pogodbo pa Primorsko.

Title:The struggle for the northern Slovene border 1918-1920
Abstract:At the end of the First World War the Slovenes lost Carinthia because of the Carinthian plebiscite and the Primorska region because the Treaty of Rapallo was signed. Taking into account the sense of national unity, that was a huge loss for the Slovenes. In November 1918 they occupied the borderland in Styria and annexed Prekmurje to Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Rudolf Maister was given full power over the troops in the city of Maribor, the surrounding region of Styria and north-east of Slovenia by the National Council. Despite the disapproval of the government in Ljubljana, Maister's forces took control over Maribor. National awareness also helped general Maister and Slovene railwaymen to break the railway strike that tried to stifle Slovenian army in the city and block the traffic. Military and political merit of Maister's fighters is the salvation of the Drava region in Styria and Carinthian Mežica valley. Without them we would have lost a larger part of Lower Styria, like we lost Carinthia.
Keywords:Movement for declaration, political revolution, mobilisation, struggle for the Slovene northern border, Rudolf Maister, struggle for Radgona, revolutionary period in Carinthia, Carinthian plebiscite, propaganda.
