Abstract:	Ime Mezopotamija nam razkriva ogromno zgodovinskih dejstev. Med njimi je tudi Irak, država v jugozahodni Aziji, ki se lahko pohvali z dobro strateško lego in z obilo pomembnih virov preživetja. V prvi vrsti sta reki Evfrat in Tigris, ki Iraku omogočata oskrbovanje poljedelskih polj z dragoceno vodo — s pomočjo namakalnih sistemov. V drugi vrsti nafta in zemeljski plin, ki predstavljata največji potencialni prihodek države. Ameriške sile so Irak v času invazije razdejale, sedaj pa ga s pomočjo drugih držav, institucij rekonstruirajo. Rekonstrukcija oz. obnova Iraka pušča odprta vrata poslovnim priložnostim in investitorjem. Denarna sredstva, ki so bila zbrana oz. se zbirajo, so skrbno dodeljena investitorjem. Na razpise se lahko prijavijo vsa podjetja, ki so kos takšnemu trgu. Tukaj je potrebno poudariti, da je Irak kljub temu, da se situacija umirja, nepredvidljiv, nevaren, koruptiven trg in tega se morajo podjetja zavedati že predhodno, poleg upoštevanja njihovega načela poslovanja.

Title:	BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN POST-WAR IRAQ RECONSTRUCTION
Abstract:	The name Mesopotamia reveals a great amount of historical facts. One of the countries in that area is Iraq, the country in southwest Asia which can be proud of its excellent strategic position and many important sources for the future existence. The most important are the rivers Euphrates and Tigris, which supply the fields with precious water. The second most important sources are oil and gas, which represent the greatest income of the country. The American Forces have demolished Iraq during the invasion and are now trying to reconstruct it with help from other countries and institutions. Iraq’s reconstruction leaves doors open to business opportunities and investments. Financial means that have been collected or are still being collected are carefully granted to chosen investors. Every company that can meet the challenges of such a market can apply for the tender. Despite the above mentioned advantages of the market and the stabilization of the market, it is still unpredictable, dangerous and corruptive. Companies entering this market should be aware of these disadvantages and should take into consideration their way of doing business.
